Samosa …a tea time snack!!

Samosa is my favorite tea time snack…and if there’s a rainy day ….then it’s taste gets  double …with a nice cup of hot tea….:)I remember my college days when we enjoyed eating it .. in college cafeteria while  doing chit chats… among friends…those were most popular , common n easily available ..snack whenever i crave for it….it’s made up of all purpose flour with spicy potato mixture inside , deep fried in oil…that crunchhhh.. and spicy taste make me hungry …i can’t resist…it’s hard to find  a good TyPical samosa  in US ,…i am not joking.. with same crunch n taste…so i decided to make it at home…came out so good!! n why not so..as those were made with my husband and consumed quickly after frying…:) …ya really enjoyed…it’s good n memorable when our family ones r involved  in  make something together …LETS see how i made it…

  • Ingredients For Outer Cover
    •  cup          all purpose flour (Maida)
    • Water to Knead dough
    • 2tbsp         oil or butter(preferred)
    • Little salt
    • 1/4th tsp.   Ajwain or carom seeds (optional)
  • Ingredients for stuffing
    • 3-4             medium Potatoes (boiled, peeled & mashed)
    • 1/2 cup      Green Peas
    • 1-2             Green Chilies (finely chopped)
    • 1/2tsp       Ginger (crushed)
    • 1tbsp         coriander finely chopped
    • Few chopped Cashews (optional)
    • Few Raisins (optional)
    • 1/2tsp       Garam masala
    • Salt to taste
    • Red chili powder to taste
    • 1/2 tsp.     Dry Mango powder( Amchur)
    • oil for deep frying 
  • Method for making outer cover
    • Mix well all the ingredients (salt, oil, ajwain) well except water.
    • Add a little water at a time.
    • knead well for several times into a soft  dough.
    • Cover it with damp cloth and keep aside for 10 minutes.
  • Method for stuffing
    • Heat a pan pour some oil and add cumin seeds ,mashed potatoes and all dry spices (salt, chili powder, mango powder, garam masala) and green chilles, ginger and Mix well.
    • Add green peas, cashews and raisins and mix well.
    • Add coriander and keep aside.
  • Method for making whole Samaosa
    • Make small rolls of dough and roll it into a 4″-5″ diameter circle.
    • Cut it into two parts like semi-circle with a knife.
    • Now take one semi circle and fold it like a cone. Use water to seal ends.
    • Place a spoon of potato filling in the cone and seal the third side using a drop of water , press the end with fork or simply tapping.
    • Heat oil in a kadhai or round bottom utensil on medium and deep fry till golden brown (fry on a medium flame).
    • Serve samosa hot with green coriander chutney, tamarind chutney or ketchup..ENJOY!!
